Sigma continues throwing the punches with their lenses. From the fantastic 50mm f/1.4 Art to the 14mm f/1.8 Art lens; they just keep getting better and better with time. Now they’ve dropped another bombshell of a lens on us with the newly announced 14-24mm f/2.8 DG HSM Art Lens.
The new lens is the ideal ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for the most demanding photographers. With a constant F2.8 aperture throughout the entire zoom range, it’s designed for 50-megapixel plus cameras for outstanding high-resolution image quality. An updated Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) provides fast and accurate autofocus. 3 FLD and 3 SLD glass elements; 3 aspherical lens elements; and 1 large-diameter aspherical element minimize chromatic aberration resulting in extremely sharp images. Outdoor shooters will appreciate the dust- and splash-proof construction with special sealing at the mount connection, manual focus ring, zoom ring, and cover connection. With the growing popularity in multi-camera VR videography, a new Front Conversion Service is available to convert to a round hood for these specialized applications.

This is an exciting lens for many Nikon shooters and Canon photographers. I think many people will keep their eyes on this lens as an inexpensive competitor to both the Canon and Nikon equivalents. Pricing information is currently unavailable and will be announced later in the coming months.
Are you excited for this lens? What are your thoughts? If you own the Canon EF 11-24mm F4L USM or the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f2.8G ED, will you consider trading lenses?
